Lately I’ve been taking much longer to finish a painting.

I need to observe it more. I watch the colors dry and reflect the light differently.

I’m not trying to paint something “beautiful.”

Beauty alone lasts a moment. A quick glance, and then the eye moves on.

When I paint, I’m looking for something else. Something that makes you stop in front of the canvas for more than a second.

A small friction. A feeling you can’t explain right away. Something that keeps you there a little longer.

If that happens, then the painting has truly begun to live. nostr:nevent1qqsyf7cf94cegfsyg7jr57qky79xkxlsu5hweyguyfax5pplhtm902gpp4mhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mqzyr6dk5nshkv3k9a758ndqd05thhrj2gec228fwavzq6z6g3uwnsdqvacy6g
