There is an option in settings, it might be under "data and privacy" or some such. You can turn off autoloading of different types of media, or have it happen only on wifi etc.

If I still had Amethyst installed I could tell you exactly. Vitor does good work, but Amethyst is no featherweight. Same for Verita's PosterChan. I'm back to using Dark Wisp...
