Stinging nettle likes moist to wet fertile soil and partial shade. I transplanted some from a hiking trail into a rain catch from a shed. After a couple years it established nicely.
It is all over the area, but it didn't have any. I needed to create the conditions it likes, I'm too high and dry for nettle
