Which, of course, they always were to free individuals voluntarily interacting.\n\nBesides the various other monetary qualities comparing all comers, the single greatest advantage of bitcoin was the first mover status. The OG. And that of course is what has been ceded by this fork flight.\n\nSo now this fork coin does not have layman consensus as \"Bitcoin\" and is just another altcoin. And now it must justify why it is better than all the rest, especially Monero which has had a soft spot in many a bitcoiners hearts and wallet/other software. Which is fine, but not a comfortable place for used-to-always-winning in market share and mind share bitcoin maxis.\n\nI'm still not convinced the sha256 miners/hashers colluded. Maybe the pools did, but the hashers didn't make any effort toward defecting either. It was seen as a not popular enough movement and a losing non-event that to entertain would have jeopardized their large investments in a contentious way for possibly weeks. Their choice seemed like rational inaction to me.\n\nAnd the 110er fork reaction does look like an overreaction and a possible controlled opposition operation. Now the stalwarts of decentralization and protocol prudence have departed taking most of their toys and popular support with them. Core and their ilk are free to cuck it out to the suits even more.\n\nI don't see the future winning scenario.",
