having been connected for a time, and completely having my technical grasp of the subject ignored by said developers, i could have also warned everyone that web of trust doesn't stop spam and can be gamed to promote anything if you play with it long enough.

i'm not surprised that this is blowing back on people in such a scandalous way but hey, you all thought it was some kind of panacaea for spam. it's not. and it makes new users who aren't trying to game it, up against a brick wall of invisibility. and those determined to exploit it have all the wedges required to wheedle their glowing and sicko way into the graph.

but nobody ever listens to me and unlike the well meaning whistleblowers here, i don't even bother to make popcorn, this just pops up on my radar when it touches my actual follow list.
