Today marks my third year on Nostr!
I had read an article about a decentralized protocol that wasn't peer-to-peer. I wasn't able to wrap my mind around how that would work, and wanted to see if it was functional.
I also read that it could be used to play chess! I love games, although chess is one that I'm not fond of (and I think I know why), so I was curious even more, as games are what drove home computers to have advancements like sound cards and graphics processors.
I've never been a fan of social media, but when I saw what was going on here, I knew that giving it momentum would benefit us all. I still haven't played chess using that Nostr client, and have shared more here than any of the platforms I've had accounts on; maybe more than all of them combined (if you don't count live chat environments).
I'm still not sure if Nostr is functional. 🤣 I don't get notified reliably when someone replies to my notes. Relays are still a messy subject (don't add too many, but also add all your friends' personal relays for specific topics, as one example). At the same time, I'm thankful to be here, and if this doesn't turn out to be the wave of the future, I know this is where I will find out about it.
Thank you all for being testers on the bleeding edge with me. It would have been a lonely three years if it were only me here this whole time. 😜
