The EU Commission says Instagram & Facebook could be acting illegaly in Europe.

Reason: infinite scroll, autoplay, push notifications and recommendation algorithms are designed to hold your attention.

They’re threatening Meta with fines up to 6% of global revenue, over $12 billion, until the apps are redesigned to Brussels’ liking: autoplay & infinite scroll OFF by default, screen time breaks, and algorithms retuned to be less engaging.

This is under the Digital Services Act, the same censorship law that polices speech now dictates product design...
