That can be deceptive since Ubuntu has it's own repos and stuff on top of Debian. That's part of my point. It just adds complexity for no gain anymore (in my opinion). Ubuntu used to be useful, but I don't see where it really fits anymore. Especially with how corporate and buggy (the last time I used it) it is these days. I certainly wouldn't recommend it to a noob anymore. But perhaps I wouldn't Debian either. Fedora is generally one of the simplest in my experience.
