My concern here is that I've seen posts stating they made purchases for Christmas presents...clearly past 120 days, I know my purchase was 120 days prior to anyone making a Christmas purchase. If you didn't know, when you run a BTCPayserver, you can create custom lightning addresses on the fly and the address store dependent. So each store you create can have its on lightning address. I'm changing my tip wallet address and see how well it works. Test it out if you feel the need.

Because it worked for me out the gate, I assumed it would for everyone else but that was not the case. I still offer a 5% discount and to help people get setup with Cashapp to pay with bitcoin. IRS Extends Relief for Digital Asset Lot Identification Rules: The IRS has issued new guidance extending temporary relief for taxpayers to identify specific units of a digital asset sold or disposed of while in a broker's custody. The relief, originally provided in Notice 2025-7 , is extended for an additional year through 12/31/26. This extension addresses concerns that some custodial brokers are not yet technologically capable of accepting specific identification instructions from customers for their digital asset transactions under Reg. sec. 1.1012-1(j). During the relief period, taxpayers can make an adequate identification by documenting the specific units on their own books and records by the date and time of the sale, rather than communicating the identification to the broker. If a taxpayer does not make an adequate identification, the default first-in, first-out (FIFO) method must be used to determine the basis of the units sold. This relief is limited to digital assets held by a broker. Notice 2026-20 .

Map and was simultaneously added to the Cash App and BTCMap. I think they all are using the same date to update. I did a manual add because I’m not a Square merchant but use CashApp to accept bitcoin payments.

Looks like I need to do a better job estimating my costs. I charged 10 sats for routing. So on 50 squares, I collected 500 sats. This one payout was 2349 sat.
I do this for fun, not for the sats. It’s the price I pay to learn lightning and BTCPayserver.
