Is it that little mini fence area? You just drop Compost scraps in and turn it like a normal compost pile? I've never thought to do that. Does the composting process affect the surrounding plants negatively with the heat?

The wood will begin to rot and in that state, it can hold something like up to 400% its weight in water or something crazy like that. Done right, it enables you to grow a lot of crops in climates you otherwise couldn't. You can also get away with significantly less watering.

Another consideration is mixing filaments... the two most common, PLA and PETG do not adhere together. All your plastic has to be sorted by type. And by color if that matters. If youve got anyone mixing plastic types though, you're gonna have an annoying surprise halfway through a print.
