I saw someone online, forget the source, say that single digit millionaires aren't rich they're scared. They have just enough to feel constant fear they'll lose it but not enough to afford to truly protect their wealth.

I think this might explain why I see the most escalation of police state in upper middle class places instead of ghettos where it would be more effective for reducing overall crime.
