Mail-in ballots are great for cheating.

They're also good for when you have to work on election day, or your partisan state government chooses not to set up polling stations near you because they know your neighbours will vote wrong.

Here in Australia, election day is a public holiday, and states have no role in Federal elections. Our election rigging is much more centralised and takes place much earlier in the process...
