Mail in ballots are complete and utter bullshit imho they are only good for cheating… Not like voting does any good n e ways…
Here's how we do it in the netherlands:
- Everyone gets their voter invite by mail if they are 18+
- You go physically to a poll to exchange it for one vote, this requires ID. If you can't go you can write on your invite who is authorized with your signature, this person must then physically bring your ID and your voting pass. This is limited to 3.
- Everything is hand counted at every voting location, the voting data is machine aggregated in the end but every hand count is signed and published on the website of the municipalities and published alongside the machine result.
- Observing the vote is a right.
- Its all counted the same night (Except for the lockdown era where they had the fraud sensitive multi day voting which was our only unverifiable election)
- Owning and carrying an ID card or drivers license is mandatory here, so everyone already has them.
- You are allowed to use an ID that is expired for 4 years (our election cycle) so you can't be caught of guard and then blocked from voting.
Copy how it works here, works well.
