My experience with Debian is that any stability it had when packages were frozen depended on my hardware at the time. Installing on a new laptop is how I ended up on Fedora originally and learned that 'stability' is too narrowly defined by them. Like you have windows of time where you're fucked if you need new hardware or Dev tools.
