so, just thinking about this, the "Mexican Standoff" analogy is probably more accurately the inversion of the Prisoner's Dilemma.

this latter game is one where almost always, the winning move is to defect. with bitcoin, there is no winning move, but defection is a losing move in small scale, and a winning move in large scale.

i think as this line of thinking progresses, i will get a more cogent and clear argument that will show that bitcoin is indeed destined to be coopted and for which reason, a consensus like Jericho will eventually take its place as it is better fitted to the threat model, which is those plutocrats.
