U.S. Brig Niagara..

Built at Erie, Pennsylvania, during the War of 1812, Niagara served as Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry’s relief flagship during the decisive Battle of Lake Erie on September 10, 1813.

After the war, she was scuttled in 1820 to preserve her hull, raised in 1913, and rebuilt several times. The present vessel was launched in 1988 as a historically accurate reconstruction.

Today, Niagara sails the Great Lakes as the Flagship of Pennsylvania, preserving the legacy of Perry’s victory and the traditions of historic square-rigged seamanship.
