It just slows down validation if you run Bitcoin on a potato. Whether that slowdown exceeds 10 minutes is an open question. It's not like Ethereum where blocks come in faster than you can validate them. But with regular advances in computing resources I believe the world can keep up.
"RAM serves as a critical component in blockchain validation because it enables the node to maintain an active UTXO (Unspent Transaction Output) set and perform rapid signature verification. With insufficient RAM, the system must rely more heavily on disk-based virtual memory, significantly slowing down the validation process."
