I couldn't agree more with this, because at the end of the day most people don't understand math. Thomas Malthus, from whom a lot of these ideas came from, proposed his population theory in 1798! In other words even before the 1 billion number had been "officially hit" he was already screaming that there were too many people and that collapse was inevitable, and they believed him then as they do now.
