Yes I guess that works too. Question is, is it worth it? As we can see, they rather buy up supply than trying to match any hash rate which makes sense and is probably cheaper since they're sitting next to the printers. Right now Monero feels a little like Bitcoin in it's early years. Not worth enough to conceive it as a threat (yet) and not widely enough available (few exchanges) to feed rapid growth.
When and IF Monero ever gains significant value (even a couple thousand EUR) it will also gain more attention - from the wrong people. For now, that isn't the case yet so I wouldn't worry about 51% attacks.
