Try to square the paradox of transacting Bitcoin without owning a computer. THAT is my conclusion. Everyone in Monero is privacy-LARPing, and I'm kind of tired of seeing it.
As for content of your communications, there are ways to keep that data private to a point. But again, you have a counterparty that can ruin everything. The essence of networks is that we are relying on others. Which is fine for trusted parties but merchants are generally untrusted parties.
