Tether is on Liquid now and based on the recent interview with nostr:npub1qny3tkh0acurzla8x3zy4nhrjz5zd8l9sy9jys09umwng00manysew95gx on Citadel Dispatch, sounds like Tether on Liquid is much harder to freeze which means you will like see a lot of people going to liquid-tether. Not to mention the federated nature of it is extremely robust. Plus, you can actually run your own node and peg in and out if you want, but atomic swaps are pretty cheap and easy regardless.
It’s not full self custody but it’s a great interstitial step to add a layer of privacy.
