pseudonyms.\n\nAdam Weishaupt became:\n\n⚔️ Spartacus\n\nOther people, cities and regions were assigned secret names.\n\nThe organization used coded correspondence so outsiders could not easily understand its communications.\n\nThe Illuminati divided members into ranks.\n\nIts early grades included:\n\n🌱 Novice\n\n🦉 Minerval\n\n✨ Illuminated Minerval\n\nThe name Minerval referred to Minerva, the Roman goddess of wisdom.\n\nThat is why the Owl of Minerva is historically connected with the Bavarian Illuminati.\n\n🦉 The owl represented wisdom.\n\n🌑 It could see through darkness.\n\n📚 It symbolized knowledge overcoming ignorance.\n\nThe famous eye floating above a pyramid was not the order’s known official emblem.\n\nThat image appears on the Great Seal of the United States and was placed on the American one-dollar bill much later.\n\nIts modern connection to the Illuminati comes primarily from conspiracy culture—not documented Illuminati ritual.\n\nThe society grew rapidly after Adolph Freiherr von Knigge joined around 1780.\n\nKnigge was an experienced Freemason and gifted organizer.\n\nHe helped expand the order’s grades, ceremonies and recruitment network.\n\nThe unity did not last.\n\nWeishaupt and Knigge fought over leadership, doctrine and the direction of the order.\n\nKnigge departed in 1784.\n\nThat same year, the Bavarian government began prohibiting unauthorized societies.\n\nThe Illuminati were specifically targeted in further measures.\n\nGovernment searches uncovered correspondence and internal documents.\n\nSome papers revealed plans, political ambitions and invasive methods of evaluating members.\n\nThe authorities published seized documents to expose the organization.\n\nWeishaupt lost his university position and fled
