Every single Lightning channel is anchored by a transparent L1 transaction, leaving permanent UTXO opening and closing footprints in surveillance databases. Because routing nodes must lock liquidity publicly, the network topology is inherently vulnerable to balance probing, timing attacks, and traffic correlation -a flaw made worse by liquidity being concentrated in a handful of major hubs.\n\nThe idea that Monero’s ring signatures will eventually be brute-forced misunderstands basic cryptography. Monero relies on discrete logarithm assumptions (the exact same baseline security math that powers Bitcoin’s ECDSA curve). If a future quantum or mathematical breakthrough shatters these primitives, Monero’s past transaction graph might be unblinded, but Bitcoin’s active balances and entire history get looted instantly. Meanwhile, Monero continues pushing forward with Full-Chain Membership Proofs (FCMP++) to expand its anonymity set to the entire ledger history.\n\nA soft fork adding Confidential Transactions won't stop Chainalysis. Hiding numerical amounts conceals the numbers, but it leaves the UTXO transaction graph and spending paths completely exposed.
