i'm only playing acoustic drums. peizo sensors pick up the signal and it enters a bunch of code that eventually results in noise. it's all controlled rhythmically - For instance, if you hit the drum that has the chaos trigger on it, at the same tempo as the current base tempo, It tends to keep the chaos level steady. If you play it twice as fast, it raises the chaos. Otherwise, the chaos decays back to baseline. So if you play slower than the global tempo, not much happens, but if you play faster than the base tempo, things start to ramp up and get wild. Since all the controls are dynamic like this, it just naturally responds to your playstyle in the moment.
