I'm not ideologically against anybody forking the code for any reason. That's freedom. Their logic however is baffling. They're not 'firing' the miner...

Did they give a reason for the random selection? I assume it's to not give anyone a head start advantage. I don't know the technical merits of that guess, just speculating.
