What's the "easy" solution to run a #node for a non technical person? #asknostr #bitcoin

Buying hardware with an OS preinstalled that makes running node software stupid simple is the easiest way to go. I recommend nostr:npub126ntw5mnermmj0znhjhgdk8lh2af72sm8qfzq48umdlnhaj9kuns3le9ll , especially now that they are selling their servers with StartOS v. 0.4.0-beta preinstalled. nostr:npub1aghreq2dpz3h3799hrawev5gf5zc2kt4ch9ykhp9utt0jd3gdu2qtlmhct is also a good option.

I think Start9 is the better option because their new OS is incredibly powerful, while remaining easy to use, and because purchase of a server from them gives you access to their private Matrix server for expert support. By contrast, I have had mixed experiences with Umbrel's support via their Discord server, but the folks at Start9 have always been responsive and knowledgeable.

These are basically plug and play. Fire them up, navigate to the web UI via any web browser on a device on your local network, set up your login credentials, and install your preferred Bitcoin node software from their official app store, accessible from your main dashboard.

It will take a few days to a week or so to sync the full blockchain, and then you will want to have some additional apps to actually make use of it, such as an electrum server to connect your node to whatever Bitcoin wallet you use, your own mempool explorer, and any Lightning node software you want to run, if you're wanting to self-host your own Lightning wallet.
