I learned about it from, "Mother Knows Best: The Natural Way to Train Your Dog"
Mostly affection, attention, and free-time with their favorite toy. I think the flip side is slight methods of "shunning" when they misbehave. I still need to read the last 1/3rd of the book.
The concept is that moms train puppies without food. Also, that any dog will do things for food, but may not be learning how to learn, or combine lessons to reach a higher goal.
Conceptually, it was difficult for me to understand at first. I was brought up that food IS the way dogs are trained. I'm sure there are some gaps in her theory, but I can't deny her own results either.
