Vexl is web-of-trust-based. Do you know the person from your contacts which is the link between you and the other side of your transaction? Can you ask your contact about their credibility?

I did also remote transactions with Vexl. My favourite is to send an ATM code to the seller in exchange for lightning sats. We split a larger transaction for 2–3 chunks and switch between us who will pay first.

I also like to use the built-in price calculator, it's very convenient and helps to agree on the current exchange rate.
