  "content": "Primal has a lot of controversy which is at least in part because they get a lot of funding. So I don't want to not mention that, sometimes haters hating just cause they're jealous.\n\nHowever, they do some \"quirky\" things which can be interpreted as very problematic. They are much more centralized than other clients, and so have power to censor in a way that a lot of Nostr disagrees with. \n\nThey also kind of onboard people with default follow packs so there's a group of Primal influencers that are only so popular because they're default selected. (Although again to be fair jealousy might drive that part of the hate).\n\nI had a lot of issues with their trending pages as the way they set it up seemed to reward controversy. So you see things like flat-earthers popping up a lot because tons will comment on those posts. However, I will say I've seen their trending algorithm as improving over the almost 2 years I've been here. Previously you could get on trending just by self commenting, boosting, and zapping. And it seems like they've changed it so you can't be a one person trending post. I even got shamed when I accidentally self zapped a few weeks ago by a bot 🤣\n\nThis most recent wave of bots does seem linked to their relay in the inbox. This is largely just because it's the largest client / relay so it's an obvious target for these types of attacks if you want to degrade the Nostr experience.\n\nSo that's my understanding of the situation with primal. I still use it, but less and less these days and I did finally get a different wallet set up. Please keep in mind I'm an idiot so do your own research too 🥰",
