If you haven't read this classic, you ought to. While I do admit that it's not for everyone, but I can guarantee that once you read it, you will be a ...
Human Action is even heavier going but elaborates over a lot of the same ground. I don't think anyone covered the subject of economics as well as him but at the same time I think he missed out the problem of politics which Rothbard touched on more.
I've been working heavily in the last 4 months with claude on taoist systems, the trigrams/hexagrams, the 4 ternary of the tao te ching, and the pentanary or whatever it is, of the wu xing. the wu xing is the most complete in terms of understanding the states of systems and how they are changing, how to recognise the state of balance and where to apply intervention to bring it into balance. the problem with Mises and the rest of the austrians is they don't take into account human tribal behaviour, which forms an axis that is missing from the austrian model. when you understand the whole thing you can actually bring about real change in the society, but it's not something you can impose, either, and i've learned some parts of the pattern that are missing but i'm missing other parts. that was an insight that led me to learn about the concept of "stigmergy" where leaving markers around people find them and make use of them.
