If someone is already convinced that "social media" is a problem, telling them that there's a new "social media" isn't going to entice them.

Even if they're open to something new, they've already heard about centralized alternatives like MeWe, Truth Social, etc, and without explaining the benefits of Nostr as a protocol vs centalized systems, they won't care. Btw, they won't care about protocols, open source, censorship reaistant (which just sounds like it's censorable). Those aren't aspects that people understand to be valuable.

If you speak to them about benefits they understand, then you're starting to get into marketing. Everything else is a boring sales pitch.
