Mercury Retrograde officially starts tomorrow (Feb 26th for some parts of the world) and ends March 20th. Information regarding Mercury going retrograde in recent years is often full of scare tactics, and missing half the picture.
It happens about three times a year, and each occurance is roughly three weeks long. So, it's something you've been experiencing on a regular basis your whole life. It's true that it's not a good time to initiate new agreements, and it's best to avoid travel when possible. However, there are some activities that Mercury Retrograde is helpful for.
This is a time when it's great for taking projects that have been left on the back burner, dusting them off, and bringing them to the forefront. Anything that has been neglected, and needing attention, is a good target. I call this type of activity "closing the circle".
This is also a great time to reach out to a friend that you haven't talked to in a long time. Sometimes I will scroll through my text messages, or my contacts, and look for anyone that I miss chatting with. The result is always good.
If you're a dev. It's probably best to not work on new features. Hoeever, it's a great time to debug! It's also a great time to take that half-implemented feature that has been ignored, and get it completed and committed.
If you're going out to eat, instead of going to a new restaurant, choose one you used to frequent instead. Even though making new agreements should be held off, like taking a new employer/client, making an agreement with someone that you worked for in the past can be a good thing. It's a great time for deep cleaning, fixing things, and review.
If you must travel, triple and quadruple check everything: reservations, items (when leaving your hotel roomv or a cab, for instance), and have contingency plans (tools, distilled water, etc in your car).
I love spearheading into new things, so it takes me a while to get into "go back and review things" mode. When I do, I end up really thankful that I have. Even if Mercury's three-week nap is just a reminder, it's a good one.
