That is a great way to go about it.
Instead of buying the next console or device to play latest game (often not as good as old ones) repurposing something you already own has multiple benefits: you learn a few things while you get the new set up working, you extend the life of something you already paid for, and you get to entertain yourself building and using it.🏆
Ive had the same PC for gaming for about a decade now, and barring a few upgrades (ram, SSD, peripherals) it’s practically the same hardware. I am not phased by new games or graphics cards coming out. I refuse to be on their treadmill.
