Attempting to label everything and everyone as either right or left is naive. The system is ambidextrous.
The voters are ambidextrous. Politics comes more from one side or the other, or from some combination of the two, and the voters select which one they prefer.
The left was previously in power, intellectually degraded, and preoccupied with incredibly unpopular, bizarre things like transgender preschoolers. They are now in the opposition and have rediscovered that they have topics voters might care about. It's their election to lose.
