They steal IP and lock it up behind closed weight models that you need to pay for. Chinese startups on the other hand are doing everything in the open. They're also doing a shitload of research which openai and Anthropic are using for free, the most advanced research behind the American AI industry is all Chinese, to the point that half of their internal slack messages are in Chinese. ",
