This is possible, but it requires the relays you post to to support NIP-40, and post from a client that supports NIP-40, like Amethyst.

The way it works is, the note gets posted to a relay that supports note expiration times. The relay will only allow clients to read that note up until the time of expiration. After that, the relay will no longer honor requests from clients for that note. If a client still has the note in its cache, though, the client may still display it, even after the expiration time.
