Don't get me wrong, I'd prefer to see only financial transactions on my node since this is why Bitcoin exists, but I would not say that large OP_RETURNs are causing issues per se, since the block size is capped anyway (I'd like not to have the segwit discount though) > nodes have the right to find new hashers which align with the wishes of these nodes. And that's what is happening This is surely something that nodes can do, although it remains to be seen whether the Blake hard fork will gain any value. I honestly prefer the ecash fork since it also reduces the block size and implements drivechains via BIP300/BIP301, which is much more compelling IMO when compared to simply having less spam

Do you not agree that Haber-Bosch was one of the main reasons we've seen the population growth we've seen in the last century or are you suggesting that we've always had several billion people on the planet?

Thanks for the reply. I was on the BIP110 side so I wouldn't say I'm unaware of real and potential issues that the Bitcoin network might currently have. I agree that claiming that we've won already and all of that is nonsense. However, with this premise of out the way, I think my note was quite objective to the best of my understanding. The "influencers" on the BIP110 side are, in my opinion, conveniently misrepresenting how power dynamics work in Bitcoin since its inception and they're claiming instead that the network is no longer decentralized because a soft fork with a tiny amount of hashpower backing it failed to become consensus for the broader network. I really don't see how this having happened in the way if did disproves anything, regardless of Bitcoin being already captured or not. Are we relying on a bunch of friendly miners to change consensus rules in the way we want? This is not a realistic strategy as we have just witnessed.

Organic MOE use will only happen in my opinion whenever merchants start wanting Bitcoin more than they want fiat. We're otherwise placing the blame on consumers though, am I right? I don't think you can force the individual buyer to spend Bitcoin when spending fiat is so much easier, and we certainly cannot hope for Bitcoin to dramatically rise in use as a medium of exchange because a few bitcoiners here and there feel guilty for not spending it. For me the question is: what is to be done for more merchants to start wanting to accept Bitcoin, maybe even offering a discount for paying in sats? What are the blockers? Are they technical/psychological/legal/fiscal in nature? If these issues can be solved, then consumers will simply start paying in sats more and more, but they're not the drivers of this solution.
