I do get that dialog, but when I click on Nostr I only get this: https://i.nostr.build/6Zs2XYdsdY29048p.webp and there's no way to get rid of that popup, except for that Log out button. So it's either me giving them what they want (but don't need), or not logging in at all. But then somehow I'm still logged in, without the site showing any signs of it. It's really confusing.

Yeah, it seems they don't care about nostr much. While looking for contact infos I scrolled down to the footer and there's lot's of "social media" links, but no npub, no mention of nostr, although they obviously have a profile. There have been a lot changes since I first joined, but honestly, none of them made it better, or easier to use (for me at least). It's kinda sad though.

When I discovered nostr, nostrcheck.me was the first thing I found when looking for a place to put my pfp and it gave me a nip-05 too, that's 2 birds with one stone, yay! Added the relay a bit later and am still using it. Keep it up.

I coud, but.... no thanks. They are really, really, really fuckin' slow, compared to other, newer, better laptops that I own. So if there's a need for another system, I got some room for that.

It came with a Pentium3-1000 and 512MB RAM, not much, but enough to run win2k and later even bitcoin-qt. The Asus EeePC 1000H already had 1GB Ram, but its Atom CPU isn't really much (or any) better than the P3-1000. Again just about enough power to run bitcoin on it back in the days. There was a time when both of them mined about 1-2 Blocks per day. Sounds like a joke, doesn't it? But that's all you needed in 2010 to start mining, just some CPU that works, no matter how fast or slow. And the best part: they both still work! On the Omnibook a display hinge is broken and oc both batteries are dead, but besides that they still work just fine ~20years later.

Yes, you can send lightning payments, but all transactions are auto-swapped from liquid to lightning before they're sent to the recipient. Yes, you can also receive lightning payments, but again, those are auto-swapped before they land in your wallet. And of course those auto-swaps charge a swap-fee that you have to pay on top of the lighnting fee for every single transaction. In times of higher lightning-fees than on-chain fees, paying an additional fee for swaps doesn't sound fun to me at all. I'm not saying Liquid in general is bad, quite the opposite, it's a useful tool. but I would never recommend it for your everyday lightning needs. Tricking people into using it by telling them "it's a lighntning wallet!" is even worse.

Is bull bitcoin a LN wallet now? Last time I checked it's been a liquid wallet, which is why i never used it. If that changed I might look at it again, but somehow I doubt it did.

The funny thing is it's cheaper that way! As crazy as it sounds, but swapping to liquid first and from there swap again to onchain-BTC is cheaper than swapping directly to onchain-BTC. At least if you use Boltz. And you can bundle smaller swaps into on big UTXO, which is also kinda nice. So why wouldn't you do it? Just because it involves that federation token?

I'm gonna giva a try later, thx. I tried the bundled nostr plugin of course, but couldn't get it to work, had similar "duplicate pluginID" errors as with Matrix and wasn't in the mood to spend another bunch of hours on that.

So, with all the talk about it, I decided to finally look into OpenClaw myself to see what all the fuss is about. Setting it up was (and still is) a pain in the ass, seriously, it took me a couple of days just to get the basics running. Trying to make it as private and (kyc-)free as possible, the struggles started with the communication channel. I choose Matrix as a first step, cuz i don't use whatsapp, discord, or telegram and i can just run a Matrix homeserver in my LAN. That's pretty private, right? But the plugin failed to load. After hours of tinkering and sweating and being angry at my bot (who gave me lots of imaginary "fixing" solutions that "work 100%"), i eventually got it to work. Then i looked for a Brave API key to make web_search work, but guess what? Without KYC you don't get shit at Brave, privacy my ass. So now i also run SearXNG in my LAN, which has a json API that just needs to be actvated and... oc another openclaw plugin, which again gave me a headache cuz after endless config-edits and retrys some .json-file still had the wrong pluginID that caused errors. Took a while to find that one. But now it just works, without the need for a CC, or bank-account, or whatever else Brave wants for those "free credits", GFY! For LLM access i choose PPQ.ai and it works like a charm. Good job, nostr:npub16g4umvwj2pduqc8kt2rv6heq2vhvtulyrsr2a20d4suldwnkl4hquekv4h ! The bot's already able to check the credit_balance himself and it looks like topping up credits isn't much harder than that, but he doesn't have a lighnting wallet yet. That's on my todo list though. Long story short: it wasn't/isn't as easy as they say it is and a hallucinating bot doesn't help much, it often makes it worse than it was, but it's still kinda fun, better than watching the news anyway. tbh most of the time i have no idea what i'm doing, just copy-pasting code snippets from here to there and back again, but in the end it turns out that even a noob like me can do it.
