If i recall correctly i met Shaun at Bitcoin Amsterdam in 2024, where we were both on a panel, and started using Yakihonne not long after that. Not just because they are part of the handful of well-developed, mature Nostr clients in the space, but because I know the team is very responsive if there are any issues, and they are open to user feedback and suggestions. I wanted the displaying of threads to change, and at this point they provide options to each their preference. The issue with recommendations is that you leave people in their hands so to speak, so the app as is at that moment is only half as important as the confidence i have in the team behind it. There is another side of things as to why i often recommend Yakihonne to people, and that is because it walks the line between features and clarity pretty well. It does the micro-blogging part just fine, but the decision to mix in the long-form content really expands the content horizon. Most articles i bothered to read were actually due to the fact the app presented/recommended them to me. I think all the articles i have published myself on Nostr were created using Yakihonne. They eventually adopted outbox and there are some other Nostr-purity test things that I like, but of course i have my criticisms. The main one is that they dropped the ball on the relay-feed side of things; a ball they picked up at some point with the introduction of Relay Orbits. It was a start of things, but from there it never got to where i think it could be for now. I generally rotate between all sorts of clients on an hourly basis, but find myself opening Yakihonne less and less because it is slow compared to some of the other clients out there, however much i like the wiggling pudding/spinning croissant loading icon, at the end of the day i'd rather just like to see the content. It has been a while since they had an update, but apparently one is coming soon. I am excited to see what they are coming up with. They bother to do marketing and try to bind users to their app. Nostr itself has not seen enough traction to constitute enough of a 'market' for apps to be thriving healthy businesses. But running under the assumption that point will come, i believe the team has what it takes to be one of those commercially viable businesses and remain a well-behaved ecosystem player. To that effect, just give them the money to continue their operation.It's unfortunate the new version of the app is not out yet, so i can't judge as to whether they have been slacking in the last period. A little bird told me they are supposedly doing something with NIP-63, which would make me very happy. Also the fact that almost everyone is sucking on the same Jack nipple by proxy is terrible of course (i know Opensats has more than just those funds, but still). It already has caused tensions and resentment and drama and what not. And me publicly advocating for one player to get money immediately implies that others don't. But I will leave the relative calculation as to who deserves what and when over the other up to the board, all i am doing is running the assessment of whether the continued support of Yakihonne in and of itself is a good thing, and I would say yes....yes it is.

I suspect the target audience will be the semi-normie public/private sphere, but mostly public sector, education etc. Also i suspect this is very much intended as fediverse party. The whole fediverse thing got some traction ever since the EU decided it needs to become more independend from US "Big Tech". I am pretty sure most of not all of these people are not even aware Nostr exists, it is simply not part of the conversation. Lets see if we can change that. Ideally we hit them from all angles, demonstrating how Nostr already managed to eclypse in a few short years what this fediverse has been struggeling to acomplish in a decade. Their theme this year is ''Leading by example in Digital Sovereignty'', and we are, so lets make them aware of it. At the very least we can shoot our shot; if they happen to be so biased towards the fediverse that we are not even welcome, so be it, only one way to find out. There are 2 weeks left to submit. Lets see if we can coordinate a bit such that we are not in eachothers way. There were two issues, one with NIP03 technically, and one practically. The practical issue is that its inefficient to store all these timestamps in seperate events, which is mainly why fiatjaf stopped, too much overhead. Ive fixed that issue with a new approach, sticking the timestamp directly to the event, but this method demands from relays ,as well as clients to atleast fail gracefully, so it will take some lobbying to get peoples parsers not to panic from the fact there is additional data there they are not expecting.

"nostr:" is the way to make a Nostr native reference to another event; using an URL basically pull people out of their clients and makes them go to a website (some clients happen to interpret these URLs such that they will open them in the client, but its best to stick to the correct method). Inside yakihonne ''post in a note'' option does this automatically for you. The other option is to select "Copy naddr", and add the "nostr:" infront of it manually. In any event, after all those years i have protocol fatigue, i already had it before Nostr, and now there is Nostr, I am glad i am done looking at protocols, because Nostr appears to be for the most part the be-all-end-all. So unfortunatly i cant be bothered to look at bitsocial (or much of anything else, have not looked at FIPS either and that is a Nostr thing), but i wish you the best

Ive done some quirky things/demos where supposedly events in the past managed to reference events supposedly in the future. OTS indeed is the means to get an objective time anchor

In general, this type of timestamping is not suited for minute/hour timescale stuff anyway, more on the level of multiple hours/day basis NIP-03 itself is broken, but thats for a different reason entirely. When designing the standard, it did not occur to us that in Nostr, you sign the event-ID of an event. Because the current standard timestamps that event-ID, you technically don't know when something was signed, someone could have actually signed it after the fact. This, in theory, could lead to some weird exploit. Lets say i am planning to steal your keys. I could start creating all kind of events in your name today, and timestamp them, even though i am not able to sign them yet. Then later, when i successfully stole your keys, i could sign those messages after the fact, and then from the outside worlds perspective, those seem like legitimate timestamped events that you posted before your keys got compromised; which would undermine the entire purpose of it all. The fix is not that difficult, but its annoying we will have to deprecate the current standard blablabla etc.

what happens is that amethyst sends the event-ID of the event that is being timestamped to a timestaming/calender server. This server gathers all kinds of things, bundles them using a merkle-tree and does a Bitcoin transaction that includes the root of that merkletree. Then when that transaction is mined into a Bitcoin block, the server produces individual proofs for all the items, and sends those proofs back to the people that submitted things, which would include you and the proof for the event you wanted to timestamp. Then you create a nostr event that contains that proof, and tada, you now have a proof that some event atleast existed before some point in time. So all you have to do is press the button in amethyst and wait for stuff to get mined into bitcoin, thats it, you don't have to do anything else. Whether this explanation fits your idea of being five does not concern me, this is the answer you are getting.

Going full georgia guidestones is not ''unreasonable'' i guess, but just be aware that you are moving in that direction the moment you start arguing against industrial/processed food/slop. Those 8 billion people quite literally consist out of oil one way or another, be that fertilizer, chemicals/preservatives, processing or logistics. So i tend to keep that in mind when it comes to this type of stuff.

I understand that mass production of cinnamon is not a thing, so the food industry looks for alternatives, i don't mind that. But i do think they should be forced to call such things differently. "Sweeteners" are a different story all together, and to me, they are not sweet, and just taste like battery acid. I am pro absolute monarchy for this reason alone, because i could petition the king to enact capital punishment on whomever thought that crap was a good idea, and this world would finally see a bit of some desperately needed justice.

Thats ultimately a political battle. If you have written a book that after the fact is deemed wrongthink you have the exact same problem, or any public expression for that matter regardless of medium. Atleast with Nostr you are free to use a pen name/psuedonym, which has been ussed throughout time for similar reasons. Part of that political battle actually is speaking out, and doing so in masses. I know things are grimm in aussie land, and various other places as well (though (former) commonwealth appears to try to get a medal for this crap or something). Stay strong and God speed!
