In our humble opinion Nostr is a way better protocol to communicate and exchange information as it's events based and very dynamic. RSS is static content which always needs to be queried and scanned. We feel that best analogy is that RSS is like posters on street boards, distributed, owned by people but always needs collecting and Nostr Music is more like radio where everyone can tune in. From engineering perspective benefits are vast. In time will see what's best. In the meantime we see if we can combine the two. Will fix switching between audio and video, good point!

IMPORTANT: This feature allowed us to fix a bug where we were uploading files to all blossom servers but only actually using one server when publishing music. Now it uploads to first server in the list. We'd encourage to review "Unlinked Files" section to see if there's some unused or duplicate files which can be cleaned up. Bear in mind that if you've uploaded files to blossom.band and nostr.download with other services they would appear in Unlinked Media tab as well. Any feedback is welcome! It's Blossom servers by default. You can also set your own Blossom servers if needed or just use a link your content if it's already hosted elsewhere.

It’s not on Blossom servers, it’s fixed to Sunami. We only host media on Blossom and RSS is anchored.

We will clarify how to choose format. Maybe in the future we'd offer conversion or uploading files in different qualities: streaming and high quality. 3) We don't yet have a good answer for this. It's likely that Fountain would use either feeds GUID. Fountain seems to use a very unusual way to create artist pages. Some artists reported getting 500 error for their profiles. This the challenge with RSS cause unlike Nostr there's no identity or profile assosiated with RSS feed and artists can have multiple RSS feeds. So every platform has to figure its own method. There's GUID used by Podcasting 2.0 apps but not all RSS feeds seem to have it. Sorry it doesn't answer your question but at least provides some context on why it's not trivial. AFAIK Artists usually need to give some hint to TuneCore and DistroKid on Spotify profile. We've also seen instances when there's artist name clash (mainly for less known artist) so it's also not ideal in legacy world. Probably Spotify has content management team which looks after any outliers.

If you want you can enable RSS on demand and submit to Podcastindex which will make it appear everywhere. Let us know if it can be done in a more user friendly way.

It's a function in Amber signer (assume other signers too). On the main page you tap Plus button to add new application then you select "Add a nsecbunker". It should give you secure connection string. You ca configure relays and expiry for extra protection. It seems to have worked for us as well.

In short, yes, it's just tricky to make a client without pulling in entire library and I think there's services like Fountain and V4VMusic which are doing quite well. So far our main focus was to make the best experience to publish music to Nostr Music and RSS simulteneuously. By default it publishes to Nostr Music so you can publish all music from RSS feeds without duplication. We wonder if RSS import feature would help here? Enabling RSS is optional so you have all flexibility in terms how you'd like to manage feeds.
