💯 I'm a C now, with the addition that I consider Core Bitcoin to be a shitcoin, and will only continue to degenerate. But since that's where most of my wealth is at the moment, I'll try to ride the pump for fiat gains until a viable hard money solution comes along. I must face the hard reality that I'm a degen shitcoin trader at least for the time being. The sad thing is that now I see other bitcoiners as just future bag holders, instead of comrades in arms against fiat. Maybe we will figure out uncorruptible hard money someday and be united again. Unfortunately I don't have much hope for what Luke's doing, but I'm willing to give him a chance and see how it plays out. But realistically we need a new champion.

Forced? Who's forcing who? I've read zero papers, but BIP361 is retarded. I don't care if it's possible or not, or how soon it might happen. The possibility of coins being stolen is not an excuse to freeze them. Just because we put the word "quantum" in front of this particular method of stealing coins doesn't change that. There is no paper, or quantum expert who's opinion is relevant to this. nostr:nevent1qqsy2lv7yzqwhx0sgeu95kh02la659jj6kzgppad8qwu6kaw2cgl90qzypgdjn7zmpvqc6ptqud9gtutrcc6yq9s2z96h9dr80hss4wl9qwkxqcyqqqqqqgym4f6u

The beautiful thing about open source is you can fork if you don't like the direction a project is going. You then benefit from all the prior work done, even by the devs you no longer see eye-to-eye with. This is a wonderful asymmetry that gives dissenters a big advantage. So don't be surprised when the incumbent dev team cries about it. Of course they'll say things like "why don't you start from scratch?" and of course they'll shit on the fork and do everything in their power to hinder it. Because the fork has a huge advantage. It can even merge future work the original devs do if it aligns with the fork's ethos. Any open source dev knows this and this is the reason they start throwing shade almost immediately, their work might help the competition. But anyone who truly understands open source knows this is a good thing and protects against a project being taken over by a few bad actors.

The exact moment when Core was first infected with the woke virus was in 2020 when an anonymous dev, TrentZ, with no prior github history in the bitcoin repo (or any activity since then), submitted a PR to change the word "blacklist" in Bitcoin Core test code with the comment "Let's use a more appropriate and clear word and discard the usage of the blacklist. Blocklist is clear and shall make everyone happy." I remember well this caused some controversy at the time, with people pushing back on the absurd wokeness of it all. Many of the same devs currently defending v30, crying about Gloria being "chased out", and making all kinds of excuses for spam, argued in favor of the change. Among their arguments were plenty of elitism and credentialism very similar to what we've heard recently. It was the first time I noticed a shift towards wokeness in Core and I knew then it was just the start. This is how the woke virus infects a project like Core. It slips in as small, innocuous changes. Then the team mindset slowly shifts with constant pressure to conform, purity tests like getting the covid vaccine, strict adherence to ESG/DEI and other insane woke progressive ideologies, slowly pushing out dissenters and forcing everyone else to toe the line. Core has followed the woke playbook to the letter. Six years later, Core is completely controlled by this mentality. Unfortunately there is no way to undo this damage. Just like bitcoin doesn't seek to change the system but rather replace it, we need to replace Core. Spam, shiticoins, and wokeness are not welcome in Bitcoin. https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/pull/19227

I love that they underestimate and ridicule 110 non-stop, at least publicly. It really is like the blocksize wars all over again. The only thing that surprises me is how many are falling for it. But to your point, yeah the idiot core worshipers think they're winning, but if 110 does flop what then? Now they're stuck with Rubin, Lopp, Todd, Corallo, Bishop, Back, etc. They think that's a win?! Right, good luck with that. There will be a rush to push every horrible idea they've been working on. Todd will definitely be working hard on a demurrage/tail emissions PR.
