Anyone who doesn't accept all forms of payment for their services is an idiot. Publicly grandstanding claiming you've rejected sales in a currency people are offering you makes you a grand-idiot. I accept fiat currency for my services & convert it into Bitcoin. It's what you end up in, not what you receive.

People are going to store things in safe ways that are well thought out, collaborative custody and bitkey are closer towards that end. That end will continue to improve if Bitcoin continues to be adopted as an SoV. If Bitcoin just ends up underpinning the financial rails as an MoE, then it will be fully abstracted away from end users.

The only way you're not relying on single points of failure is through multisig. The only way to distribute your seeds with backups in enough places to not have a single point of failure is through a 3of3 (minimum). If you want to bury the 6 seeds in 3 different locations that's up to you. Saying my way is bad because you hate banks is fine, but you're not taking into account that you have no idea what my threat models are or my inheritance plans. My way works the best for most people with less complexity than burying things in the ground. If you can't create a 3of3 properly, use a Bitkey. If youre stuck with Singlesig memorize it and a passphrase then back those up in multiple locations anyways. Doing all that work for a singlesig is brutal because the 3of3 is far superior.

It's not a binary question to be answered. It's a spectrum and 3of3 is far superior to both of the methods you mentioned when it comes to distribution, recoverability and anti wrench attacks. Superior security might not be advantagous for some models, that's up to you to decide your fate. nostr:nevent1qqstqkw29pytp59qsfeh60wjq0swfs5p68787ygmnkplurkpzhqwclszyr3zvzn67vanhgcqwsg3c3t8j080trf2ks79jedahdj4ly8ewwv6cqcyqqqqqqg046r0z

Did you get that secure feeling of "aha this is truly random!" as someone who might not be mathematically inclined? Isnt this supposed to be a secondary backup solution? I suppose you shouldn't leave it on your desk unless you're only using it for making wallets & not backup / storage. Thank you for the feedback it was helpful!

Bitcoin doesn't have a rogue developer problem, nor can it be "captured". Users decide how they want to use, regulatory frameworks are still voluntary, as is everything when using Bitcoin. Users choosing to adhere to regulation means they decided that's what's best for them. Praxeology at its finest. Now, you can say they only chose that because we live under governments who will weild their monopoly on violence if you don't adhere. That argument is fine, but we live in the jurisdictions of our choosing, if you don't like it move.

It's actually good advice to create a 2 of 2 or 3 of 3 multisig with different HWWs. that way you don't need to worry about keeping a separate "wallet descriptor" file. Just make sure to have solid backups or just store them all together in a safety deposit box. Lose one and all your money is gone, but single sig has the same total loss profile so handle it with your abilities in mind.
