Sorry, I'm a bit late to this thread. Onboarding of more artists and consumers is the main goal of course. I see several challenges here but the main problem is the lack of a basic economic knowledge. That is the key to understand why current models of music distribution and consuming don't work in order to be open for a total different approach with the v4v model. This is still a long way to go, I guess. The technical hurdles aren't that much of a problem. I see a lot of artists being unhappy with Spotify etc. but they are sticking to the idea of copyright. In the end they just search for a better deal with another Spotify-like company. So, focus shouldn't be the technical side of v4v. We definitely need much more marketing based on success stories to spread as a door opener.

A friend of mine found this beauty, did the restoration and sold it for a fair price to me a couple of years ago. Love playing on this with the flatwound strings on! 🧡

Exactly, I only use 8 tracks for my recordings. I record the drums directly in stereo (or even mono, like on my last single, "Do You Love Me?"). I play everything myself; it's truly pure DIY. 😅 But I'm still learning all the time, it's a process. My setup is based on an old 32-channel Tascam console and a Fostex R8 tape machine. My modest outboard gear consists of a few compressors, preamps, and (multi-)effects units. Almost everything is secondhand and probably low- to mid-budget range. But it's great to see that you also want to integrate a mixer in your setup! I think you'll have a lot of fun with it once you're familiar with everything. Drum miking is a big topic. I try to be flexible with it. Sometimes even one microphone is enough for my needs. 😬

Thanks! Working with analog recording techniques has side effects that positively impact my creativity. I have to make decisions, there's no undo function, I arrive at a result faster, and I have a unique sound. I also like the raw, unpolished sound of the tape and the hands-on work with knobs and faders instead of constantly clicking and staring at a screen. I certainly don't want to go back to the DAW world. A note about the mini concept album: It was recorded entirely analog, but a friend did the mixing and mastering digitally. However, he used very limited plugins to preserve the analog character. But I produced all the following single releases myself, mixing them all analog.
