I mean you're not wrong, it is additional complexity. But I'm not sure its consistent to trust cryptography on one but then be suspicious of cryptography that guarantees supply.

Its just a symptom of early days. In 20yrs not trusting zero knowledge proofs to guarantee supply will be like nocoiners worrying about hackers breaking Bitcoin to steal your privkey.
