I wonder if this was the hash bounty offered to pools to stand down on mandatory signalling day.

Saylor said the money was “committed,” not given. Was this their co-insurance policy in case some larger pool broke ranks and started wiping out a significant number of blocks? Probably.

They even disclosed it publicly, which would make the commitment look more credible.

That could even explain why no one ran a URSF. Why waste energy fighting a social war when you can simply bribe a few large entities with a big enough pile of money to guarantee their cooperation?
