I like the emphasis on FP + OOP in Ruby. Always felt better than Python.

I stopped writing in Ruby after discovering Crystal, though. I use it with shebang even as if it were a scripting language. Crystal is what I wanted from scripting languages: a syntax close to Ruby but with non-annoying type-safety and some type inference (though a bit limited). Concurrency is weird in Crystal, though; it's not ready yet.

I never liked higher-order functions' syntax in Ruby, though, and I'm sad that this was blindly copied to Crystal.
