I was dumbfounded how many people were watching and waving to us along the rail. I had no idea what this event was. I mean thousands of people at every siding, crossing, hill climb. It felt like we were royalty when we got out for lunch. The road and grass outside our station was full of people waving and recording.

We spent all day yesterday drag racing stream locomotives. Will have some poorly taken pictures and videos when I'm done gathering them. 2102 met up with U.P. 4014 (aka Big Boy) In Pittsville PA, for "a once in a lifetime experience" drag race 50 miles back home. 2102 Said "Ill race you with a trailer on." We had 27 fully loaded cars and made a little over than half the horsepower of 4014, but they detached the diesel locos on our way back and sent it. No surprise 4014 blew our doors off, visiting every car we had, more than a couple times. We're pretty sure the railroad wasn't expecting it to happen as smoothly as it did or at all. Good to know it's not just me. I mean it's been so long since the hospital shut down i have to assume it's for other reasons. Maybe state has been pulling funding, or brain drain, or maybe insurance drama for some providers I don't know, but it surely feels like a shortage of staff. But the crazy part with that simple thesis, why would they still be booking appointments for a checkup or blood work years into the future? Wouldn't you just raise prices and get more people in?

Local primary care system is way more fucked than it was. I've spent way too much time on this and tokens on my clanker. Basically a local hospital system collapsed (heavily subsidized by the state btw) and left a massive vacuum of primary care that hasn't been filled. Think over 500k people affected. This has been a few years now. To the point where _all_ doctors offices small and big that have a public phone number are booked YEARS in advance. This is within about a 40 mile radius in my network btw. Even the big city is booked (which is a shit show). I just got off the phone with another lady and she didn't even hesitate when she said "Oh the next appointment I have is September X 2027." In a network with over 100 family doctors. My current (terrible) PCP can't even fit me in for basic stuff, they refer you to urgent care or the emergency room. Which should be reserved for, you know, emergencies... I'm just glad I haven't needed anything like ongoing medication, or a chronic condition, or an injury I guess. Which by the way you're stuck in these lobbies and offices for hours on end. ~4 years ago it wasn't an issue at all. You just called a random local office and they had you in next week, no questions. One time I just walked in off the street and they happened to have an available appointment that day.

Presumably based on your previous points you don't think it's a good idea? I was torn. It seemed like a useful feature for users to be able to recover history at some arbitrary point when the sign the new revocation. Saying "everything up to this point is good, after this don't trust it" In the absence of the timestamps or even rovocation data, the chain of trust is lost. I also like the idea of deniability here. Users could completely orphan a chain and deny they were ever attached simply by removing it from the delegation list. Revocation _only_ exists to establish desired continuity.

So in your proposal. If I understand correctly, relies on revocations to be stored indefinitely right or at least longer than attested events correct? >you subscribe to (signing OR attested) This is still true in my proposal. You can subscribe to any node in the chain, but to maintain trust of the root youd subscribe to the root. In your example: if a user subscripts to one or the other, they'd only see notes from one or the other. How would they see both with one subscription?

Is this in response to my proposal? I think I'm lost here. The idea would be publish kind 10100 that establishes information about the tree. New events can optionally add a finterprint (npub) to the ancestor it wishes to publish for. Client pulls kind 10100 on itself, then climbs the tree of 10100 until it finds the matching npub in it's delegation list. If the tree ends and never found, invalid. If an ancestor revoked any point in the chain, then the timestamps are compared to determine historical validity. If any discrepancy, the chain is considered valid up to it's most valid ancestor if the fingerprint on the event is not part of the resolved chain, it was not granted permission. Do be clear this doesn't establish primary key rotation. its loosely akin to x509 chains where we add separation between usage of keys.

Probably a different model here. Somewhat in the opposite vein. Nothing is valid except for in the presence of delegation events. Id prepare for the publishing of revocation to be unreliable. Revocation in my proposal would indicate a previously valid chain which is no longer, to preserve history. In the absence of revocation the chain orphaned. Completely opt-in behavior.

Yes it requires the blockchain. Nostr "simply" needs a relay and an equipped client to function currently, in all types of topologies. Bringing in another dependency chain creates additional complexity and requires different topological arrangements. Presumably relays and/or clients would need to operate a node (or trust a node) somewhere in order to provide the feature. Right now nostr is fully independent, requiring no chain. It's just a different model I don't think many would want to opt-in to. As a part business owner in this space. That just added another server I have to maintain alongside my relay and client (distribution/api) servers.

Can I see your proposal? I remember looking at it once I think. Those were might thoughts exactly. We don't need an external dependency. We just need signed events validating chained members. I didn't know how to discuss this further really I'd just plain disagree with needing an external "source of truth" we need consensus from. So let the market discuss amongst itself.

Yeah I mean the UX issue of, hey guard this key with your life kind of thing. I mean I didn't "join" nostr until I wrote and maintained my own signer (and still do). With multiple layers of indirection to my key. One my few podcasts back in '23 I talked about the issue of a life long key people are expected to just keep on their clipbard... Which is a problem, because in bitcoin you can (as fast as you cant) try to move your utxos to another wallet. You can have completely offline wallets, the concept of a "hot wallet" is somewhat commonly discussed. Nostr keys are always hot. In networking code and stored in managed runtimes, browsers, javascript objects environment variables etc. I wouldn't be surprised if a supply chain attack on nostr devs was just to export their machine's environment variables.

This could be a really good thing for small business restaurants. I hadn't thought about it. You're right, the economics are better for lower middle class to learn to cook, and get the old can of spam back out, where the upper-middle working class are eating there. Who also happen to have a taste for better and higher quality... I mean I just went to my local food truck bbq guy yesterday $18 for a brisket sandwich, local meat, prepped for days. Quality > quantity. It cost almost same for a FF meal and probably was more nutritious and satiating.

Fair enough. Then it's still priorities I guess. And maybe the idea of "rich" has changed too. I mean we can graph and chart what inflation has done to our money. Unless you have been holding assets (which gen Z was simply too young to have been holding) the cost of living ~doubled in 5 years. Maybe the idea of 1-2 kids and a some money to retire on is focusing too far into the future. Like id guess Id rather be able to give a better life to 1-2 children than tradeoff between across 3+. I mean I don't think it's a disputed _perception_ that the more of a head-start you can give your kids the better life they will have. Education, me living long enough to give them that and so on. Id have to do some more napkin math, but I wonder how much a fatherless houshold affects a man's perception of raising children. I mean I know I'm scared of dying and leaving my household under water, but that's a _me_ specific problem XD

You're right, were renting tiny spaces from anyone we can XD Somewhat. I still know a few at home. Not because it's "home" with mom, but because it's still the smarter financial decision. Mom and dad only charge for a bedroom where you pay 5x that for 200 sqft more in an apartment.
