anyway, the thing about blocks with limenka is very specific. limenka has a per-time-interval based block size limit. this stops a big miner sweeping the mempool clean deliberately to win a heap of new coinbases with full rewards, they only get small ones. the difficulty adjustment is slow to increase difficulty so that after they get tired of being able to only scrape rewards proportional to time, and due to the VDF, no more than one a minute anyway, they just get bored and a few blocks later difficulty is back to normal. there is extensive simulations that verify the behaviour of the DAA and the effect of the VDF that all show that the design of the DAA solves every problem of being a minority chain *on the same hash function*. it may well be that blake2b hashpower is in total a lot smaller, but i hope you are aware that already there was a, what i call "dive bombing" of big hashpower, leaving blocks tagged with miner tags from sia. not solving that problem is much more important than changing the hash function.

so, how's this for poetry. i thought, i need to listen to the song Antibody by Aesthetic Perfection after what you wrote. then i needed to pee. so i went to the toilet. i already saw someone had put a bunch of powdery stuff, that was kinda carbonaceous like powdered coal or something, and not flushed it. i think the glob accumulated and even one or two flushes since didn't clear it. i tried using the brush, and the s-bend was obviously mostly clear (the whole bowl had filled with grey particulate muck) and then i looked and noticed there was a plunger and tried plungering it. still no good. the pipes below this toilet are clogged up, probably pre-existing crap that has now got a pile of water-resistant powder stuck to it.
was just kinda hilarious - a physical demonstration how things out of sight can accumulate state that suddenly turns into a bowl of rubbish
and note the visual vibes of the music video. like porcelain dirtied with powdered carbon

nah, reconsidering the locktime prioritization, this is a gameable element that could be used to jump the queue. as it is, spamchain lightning channel closes likely will use bigger fees anyway to get cleared sooner, and that will remain the same except that bulky segwit witnesses with spamchain discount policy applied will be lower value to a limenka miner and thus stay at the back of the queue. lightning channel opens and closes will naturally settle faster because they tend to track higher fee rates and are small transactions so sat/weight ratio is favorable for priority.

i've got some ideas about how to go a few notches better than pubky's system. stuff that will integrate into the bitcoin fork p2p network and leverage a protocol design i made back in 2023 https://github.com/indra-labs/indra - it will be a lightning enabled source routed relay network and relays will be able to run as services in nodes. and part of the design is there is no such thing as exiting. technically, a node runner could offer outbound access as a service (eg, a http proxy) but being dangerous likely the cost would be very high so the operator can cover legal costs they may incur. more likely, nobody in the indra relay network will offer it. much more useful offering actual services like a relay. the protocol enables charging a specific rate for time or data volume as well so it covers running costs also. probably the hardest problem is going to be the gossip protocol for the relays but i have done a fair bit of work on that design already too.

so, i am just over the shitty weak sauce battery and cracked screen of my pixel 9a. i found i could get a tuff oukitel wp36 at a local store, which has more than twice as fat battery, waterproof (even has underwater camera capability) and fuck it, it's googled but i'm using my clanker to transfer all of my apps across via adb, backing them up, also, to my disk. having it able to run all day is a big deal. so is not ever having to worry about its screen cracking from the very few drops that the pixel suffered. and i'm betting it's 4g radio, and there's no point in having 5g here in the stans, there is no 5g. but they have scan qr code invoices to pay anyone here and you only need a passport to open a bank. so, the actual conveniences are much greater and 4g is better for battery life anyway.
and i swear there's some shit wrong with graphene for drivers on the device anyway, the internet is so patchy it's irritating as fuck. and the cracked screen means i can't do kyc shit if i actually need to, front camera is fucked.

#cipherkeys now has two new alternative layouts, dvorak and russian. they slightly differ from the aosp of both keyboards in small ways but they make sense - the e to e-umlaut displaces the long press numbers at the top so e-umlaut is accessible (i haven't created multi-key option for long press but russian has 11 keys across the top row anyway) and the USB keyboard when plugged in switches to the proper usb layout relevant to the keyboard layout of the soft-keyboard so if you plug in a keyboard labeled in either form (or like me, just can touch type) you get exactly what you expect from it. possibly later i will add kyrgyz and kazakh keyboards but it's not a big priority. if anyone wants any other language layouts, like german, french, serbo-croatian, spanish, portuguese, just give me the key patterns you want to see (presumably the standard national keyboard, and USB will respect the layout as well.

Three IME subtypes in `method.xml`, each with `subtypeId` + `physicalKeyboardHintLanguageTag` + `physicalKeyboardHintLayoutType` (`qwerty`/`dvorak`/`russian`). Two framework bugs had to be fixed for this to work at all:
1. **`enableAllSubtypes()`** - the system's implicit subtype selection (`LocaleUtils.filterByLanguage`) keeps only ONE subtype per language, so same-locale subtypes (en_US qwerty + en_US dvorak) collapsed to one. Fixed by explicitly enabling all three via `InputMethodManager.setExplicitlyEnabledInputMethodSubtypes()`.
2. **`syncKeyboardLayoutSubtype()`** - the obvious `setCurrentInputMethodSubtype()` silently no-ops for non-system apps (`@RequiresPermission(WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS)`). Switched to the IME-safe `InputMethodService.switchInputMethod(id, subtype)`.

if there was a bitcoin fork that could survive being smaller, and completely eliminated the non-monetary uses, and acquired a substantial reward in fiat terms for the same hashpower as bitcoin - since as you also think, and i agree, that bitcoin's being creamed hard by etfs and saylor and blockstream and co, it's not going to grow up price fast. a small coin that does what bitcoin is supposed to do, validates all its monetary transactions, that can't be broken by malicious mining - with a better hash per dollar yield, could see bitcoin lose a dramatic amount of hash power. that could be weeks to months of it running so slow everyone decides to switch to the chain that never skips a beat also.
that's the whole thesis of limenka, my fork. it's a parasite on the parasites, that eats all the good parts of bitcoin and vomits the bad parts out, and can run just fine no matter how many miners are on it. they will just miss out if they don't mine it.

also, as far as bishkek goes, i'm gonna rate it 8 out of 10 as far as cities goes. it loses 2 points for too many broken footpaths. but the drivers aren't total maniacs and the ease with which you can open a bank account here and use the local qr code scanning interbank transfer system loading it with physical cash, and the generally good support of visa cards for getting said cash. i mean, i don't think there is many places in the world where flea markets you can pay digitally. would be trivial to get frequent vendors to install lightning wallets on their phones and be able to pay bitcoin here. the payment flow is already familiar to them. very cosmopolitan, mostly kyrgyz, but a lot of russians (mostly locals) and some international travelers seem to stop here also, though i'm not fond of german and nordic vegan types.

someone with over 7 years experience working with bitcoin knows the difficulty adjustment is going to be a big problem for forks. so they can plan it easily "oh, we are dropping the difficulty to X because there will be less hashpower" and they know they have 50% of that right out of the gate.

Just made some further improvements to cipherkeys after encountering a pure numeric input field on the O! mobile app (kyrgyz phone/bank that i use to do bank payments to shops and almost everyone in the country uses for p2p payments similar style as lightning invoices, scan and key in amount and pay anyone).
So now, on number fields, like phone numbers, it switches to a numeric keypad laid out like a standard extended keyboard, all the numbers, decimal, basic math operators and braces, enter and backspace. On email address inputs (which should also be used for nip05 and lightning addresses - all three of mine are the same - [email protected] ) the , key on the bottom right changes to @ since you don't need , and always need @.
I eventually want to add other language layouts too, especially Russian as i will be needing it more and more the longer i am in north/west asia. But i am busy with moxie right now. Gotta damn well finish it so i can start doing a russian translation lattice for iskra and probably will get the smesh wasm nostr client rebuilt and bugfixed.

kai zen literally means good change. maybe not exactly quite the same but iterative improvement is much the same concept i think. yeah, the difference is that kaizen is a cultural obligation within an organization. i can kinda relate to that. it's how i operate, i always try to learn and improve. put it this way, 11 months working as a cleaner, i reached a point where i was finishing early consistently. at the beginning i often was half an hour late. it was all about learning the most efficient motions so i fatigued less, how the actual crap i was cleaning needed to be most effectively addressed, and procedures for checking and such. put it this way, the art teachers were very sad to see me go because nobody made their rooms as nice as i did.

yeah, i have no idea. i can say though, that because all luke is doing is swapping the proof function for another that also has quite a lot of asics existing for it, and not touching the difficulty adjustment, that crosstalk on the mempools actually might be quite a bad thing if lukecoin chain runs too slow. possible attack vectors there. i mean, spamcoin could pluck them and validate and put them in blocks either way though, but deliberately mixing the mempools and baby lukecoin gets a case of constipation it could be a big problem.

this isn't quite true, but maybe they deliberately are separating the mempools. the valid transactions on spamchain could be valid on lukechain too where the rules intersect. the design i've made deliberately parasites the spamchain mempool for all valid transactions across both. i've also added some small features though that break that. oops. 128 bit precision values (2^64 worth of fractions of satoshis) will kinda break that. maybe i should try and figure out a way to actually make it backward compatible.

bitcoin needs CTs. that's why the fork i'm building has them. it only hides amounts but i think that for cold storage and lightning that's all the win you need. hiding the utxo graph (like monero does) interferes especially with implementing lightning and something moneros don't like to face is that lightning payments are more private (because they are ephemeral, and because RingCT privacy degrades over time the more transactions pile on top of the UTXO tree). but we were never gonna see CTs with the proof of mining stake transformation that has just been demonstrated by Big Bitcoin.

in order to survive being minor hostile, the difficulty adjustment has to be completely changed. and i iterated through dozens of options, multi-interval block versions, the use of a verifiable delay function to stop hostile sidechain censorship attacks, the difficulty adjustment parameters and algorithm had to be adjusted, simulated. i eventually came up with a scheme where the chain switches its anchoring to block height and instead bytes and time become the cadence rule. early blocks must be smaller, and get smaller rewards, exactly proportional. later blocks get to have a higher size limit, and the reward is based on the limit - in the rare case a block doesn't use all of its allowed limit. activations are triggered on median time past instead of block height.
so, yeah, that's a no. and it uses sha256 *specifically* to both dare the big miners to try and attack it, as well as a lure that pulls them away from mining bitcoin core spamchain bitcohen. why does this matter? because the ultra simple difficulty adjustment is WHY bip-110 could not succeed without the miners consent. it's WHY you can't "fire the miners". it is specifically a goal of my design to, should the exchange value become NGU, to steal miners from bitcoin and crash their shit.
so, you can't change the hash function if you want to spit in their face as well as step outside the walls of their fortress. you have to change everything else that defines valid blocks.

"blake2b is the only supported algorithm. Sia is not really flexible enough to support multiple."
the ASICs (obelisk SC1, bitmain A3) were built for standard blake2b-256. they work with any chain using standard blake2b-256. tauri's "modified version of blake2b" claim is incorrect.
sia did not move off blake2b with v1.5. the v1.5 hardfork changed consensus rules (the foundation hardfork, fee structures) but kept the same PoW algorithm. sia still uses blake2b-256 today. the hardfork that did change PoW was the 2018 ASIC hardfork which moved sia from a different algorithm (cuckoo cycle) to blake2b-256, which is when the ASICs were built.
ASICs for mining Siacoin (SC) are still available and necessary, as the network has transitioned to being ASIC-only for years. Modern mining requires specialized hardware designed for the Blake2b algorithm, as GPU and CPU mining are no longer economically viable.

to be precise, the IMEI is still known to the tower so long as the phone's radio is on, even if the sim isn't on it. IMEIs don't require identification (ie, buying a phone) in every place but a lot now do require it for the most random shit (i had to give passport to buy a usb charger in istanbul, and the shopping center required me to put all my bags through an x-ray machine and me through a metal detector). but yeah, the imei doesn't give as much information in most places as the sim's identity. however, if you have put a sim into a phone the towers will have bound them together, which is why phones themselves don't have id for purchase requirements but sims do. so do esims in most places, though not all of them, tourist esim providers don't necessarily (yesim doesn't at least).
turning off your location only prevents (maybe) apps on your phone phoning home to report your gps, system may be able to do that regardless. this and bluetooth beacons are two major reasons to run graphene (it enforces user controlled permissions stronger and they audit the system code closer).
the thing is, apple phones send back to apple constantly all the other bluetooth MAC addresses they encounter as part of the find my phone thing, and any phone running that on android i think they also do now since a couple of years. so your bluetooth headset or other bluetooth device can snitch on you.

the miners have too much control because their defection would be deadly to the chain's cadence. they are easiest to bribe and the protocol is riddled with deliberate vulnerabilities that favor the shitcoinery use case that got slipped in and normalised. witness discount, taproot no witness push limit. and from the beginning, the difficulty adjustment was excessively simple and can't recover from a big hashpower change (the risk of miner defection) and this also means that miners are incentivised to parasite and destroy other sha256 mined chains, which also have weak difficulty adjustments, and the checkpoints that stop private sidechain attacks, which are also not economic with too many deterrents to defection, but a minority fork will fall to this easily, and parasiting competitors is in the interests of the miners.
so if you followed all that, the miners are in control, and the attackers know this which is why they were all going to win big if they didn't switch to bip-110. if it failed, they wouldn't lose revenue.
mining is a cutthroat business, and also favors the bigger players by its burgeoning scale. the only path out of this mess is giving miners a chain to mine on that has equal income prospects and zero chance of being killed by the miners. and all the protocol holes fixed, all deficiencies compensated properly.
