Sometimes they're links, sometimes they're slow to load. The slowness seems client agnostic on my side, but my download speeds are ridiculously low. And I think links are just an exasperated byproduct of the slowness. It's relatively new. Your images have usually loaded fine for me.

The "reads" are a little smaller, but not community level small. If you try this & still get a lot of bot replies, let me know. We can try other, more restricted ones. Does that make sense? Awesome, that's perfect... you're already halfway there. Before I go typing out a list of relays, is there anything specific you want to be different? Like, do you want to reduce spam replies on your notes? Or do you want to leave big relays completely (and not be seen by a portion of the people using them)? Or trim back on data consumption? I've had a couple people end up disappointed because we went too restricted too quickly 😅 I don't want to do that again, so I'd rather try to tailor this to what you're wanting.

It is! I've been spending the last 4-5 years trying to learn beyond the obvious for my locale and damn... dry or wet seasons, large weather patterns, bird migrations, cicada cycles... everything changes what grows & nothing is the same year to year. It's a slow learning process.

Topics are only part of the equation & clearly a dominant part of home feeds. It's just not defined what the home feed topic is going to be at any given time, or for how long. I am confident that if people can discover and explore different ways of browsing variously elevated content, they'll find things that interest them and be able to create their own home feeds and relay sets that resonate, whether that be by topics, personalities, or cooperative tasks. That's a result of the community still being rather small. Onboarding into the community is still best done through engagement, creating repoire, and getting invited... which can start in any of these feeds. The community can help itself to grow through members engaging in the discovery feeds and contributing to the curation efforts. I haven't left you a lengthy, nuanced reply in a long time.
